Job Summary

The Office of Gift Development and Alumni Relations seeks a talented fundraiser who has a passion for connecting alumni, emeriti faculty and friends of the Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM) with opportunities to make a meaningful and enduring impact on the institution they care about so deeply. As a Senior Associate Director you will manage a portfolio of 100 or more prospects spending a significant portion of your time visiting with alumni and friends building trusted relationships, identifying those with the ability to make major and planned gifts, learning their life stories and philanthropic interests, and inspiring greater and ongoing giving. Provide for continuing stewardship by sharing updates from the school, articulating the impact of gifts, coordinating visits to IUSM and other donor relations activities.

The ideal candidate has an infectious enthusiasm for the Indiana University School of Medicine and will serve as an ambassador connecting with donors and providing opportunities for them to become engaged in the life of the school and see their philanthropic support making a difference. He or she must have a proven record of securing major gifts, be able to translate complex concepts to a lay audience and possess executive-level communication and writing skills.

Required Qualifications REQUIRED: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution plus 5 years of progressively responsible experience in institutional development with an emphasis on cultivating, soliciting and stewarding major gifts. Must have a valid Driver’s License.

This position requires the ability to travel, superb interpersonal skills and the ability to develop relationships with people of all backgrounds and experiences. While the individual must be highly motivated and be able to work independently, he or she must also be collaborative and bring new perspectives and creative ideas to a dynamic team. Should have proven skills in developing a strategic vision and recruiting and managing volunteers in the development process; should possess strong organizational skills; ability to juggle multiple projects; ability to travel around the country; and computer literacy in Microsoft software.

Preferred Qualifications

Medical or higher education fundraising.
