Job Summary

This position with the Clinical Affairs Information Technology Services (CAITS) Client Services group within University Information Technology Services (UITS) provides a wide range of expert technical support and consulting to faculty, students and staff of the IU School of Medicine-Evansville. Provides basic technical support to the other entities in the shared facility. Works directly with faculty and staff at all levels of CAITS. They will work under the remote direction of the unit supervisor, as well as the Associate Dean and Director of the Evansville campus, and will have authority over the day to day computing activities. They may have access to servers with highly confidential information including faculty and student data.

Serves as technical system support acting as a focal point for all complex problems with hardware and basic software applications. Configures new and reassigned computers and equipment. Provides expert technical consulting, advising, and system services in support of CAITS in the use of Microsoft and Apple systems (server/client), telecommunications, network access, Microsoft Active Directory Services, email and messaging services, mobile technology, classroom and conference room presentation technologies, simulation center equipment/programs, and security tools. Resolves problems; monitors activity in correcting problems related to software, hardware and networking to ensure satisfactory results. Participates in asset management and retirement of equipment. Updates documentation following procedural changes, new releases, and enhancements to specialized applications and assists in the ongoing analysis and design of Client Services. Provides direction to Client Services Computer Technicians and works with Server Infrastructure Team on difficult and complex troubleshooting problems.

Required Qualifications

REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer systems technology, or a closely related field and at least two years experience providing computing support.

Combinations of related education and experience may be considered.

Knowledge in Windows, Mac and Android operating systems, basic understanding of networking and multimedia support. Experience with Microsoft Office suite. Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. Exceptional customer service focus and high level of professionalism. Ability to prioritize.

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with Indiana University central systems, email, Canvas and One.IU.
