Job Summary

Works with team of web developers, interactive designers, information architects, and content specialists to develop websites and web applications for IU Communications and its clients within the framework of IU’s Enterprise Web Content Management System, and other enterprise applications using HTML5/CSS3, XML/XSLT, Velocity, PHP, MySQL, AJAX, JavaScript, REST APIs and other internet technologies. Additionally, develops custom web applications to enhance and supplement the functionality of existing enterprise systems utilizing IU’s centrally supported LAMP framework (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP).

Required Qualifications

REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, informatics or related field and two years of experience building advanced database driven web applications and development of XML based content management systems.

Combinations of related education and experience may be considered.

Expert knowledge of PHP and MySQL; demonstrated expert level skills in working with Cascade WCMS Templates, SQL, and JavaScript; and highly competent in HTML5, CSS3, and AJAX. Knowledgeable in the application of Mobile Web technologies and Web accessibility; thorough knowledge of current development trends and aptitude to learn new technologies; and expert proficiency in working with both PC and Mac Platforms. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills including a customer service orientation and ability to interact and communicate effectively with a wide variety of individuals. Strong organizational and multitasking skills including ability to manage multiple priorities with competing deadlines; superior troubleshooting and problem solving skills; and demonstrated ability to work independently as well as within a team environment.

Working Conditions / Physical Demands

This position requires use of a computer terminal for many hours a day and spends a significant amount of time viewing a computer monitor. Keyboard fluency and good visual/audio perception are critical. Tight deadlines may create some degree of stress.
