Position Title Senior Technical Advisor
Department Information

Job Summary

Serving at the forefront to monitor emerging technologies and researcher needs, engages in in-depth partnerships with scientific communities and higher education institutions across the U.S seeking to adopt or develop innovative applications or methodologies.

Engages in in-depth partnerships with scientific communities and domains at higher education institutions across the U.S seeking to adopt or develop innovative applications or methodologies. Provides strategic thought, highly technical expertise, and project leadership relevant to the complex JetStream system and Jetstream cloud environment. Provides leadership that will enable the University to position itself appropriately while balancing advocacy with the need to cooperate in the management of this extremely complex interrelated system. Develops recommendations including business use cases, feasibility, price point, the associated system development needs and integration with existing technologies.

Oversees implementation acting as a liaison between the user and project team providing highly technical expertise related to the installation, and deployment of Jetstream system ensuring the proper fit and integration with existing technologies as well as high throughput architecture, system functionality and best possible user experience.

Acts as a liaison between stakeholders, users and project team to provide feedback regarding and modification, enhancement and improvement of Jetstream system via interviews, focus groups, workshops.

Note: This position is funded for two years with the potential for renewal.

Required Qualifications

REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related technical discipline and five years of work experience with widely distributed computing system development and deployment that includes two years of leadership experience projects preferably research funded projects.

Combinations of related education and experience may be considered.

Possess considerable knowledge of the national high performance computing environment and its intended user communities as this project is part of the National Science Foundation high performance computing environment. Expert knowledge of high performance systems hardware, software and virtualized desktop software used for integration and deployment; and ability to develop research papers, conduct presentations and teach classes.

Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills including a customer service orientation and ability to work with very diverse and demanding clientele and foster and maintain collaborations with internal and external academic researchers through a balanced, service-based approach. Proven ability to work well independently; excellent analytical skills; and demonstrated enthusiasm for working with new technologies.
